• All purchases are rounded to the nearest 5 cents. Eg: you buy one item for 92 cents, your charged 90 cents. Buy 2 items at 92 cents and it will cost you $1.85

• All major credit cards and traveller's cheques, in any international currency, are widely accepted. 

• GST (Goods and Services Tax) Levied at 10%, this tax is applied to all purchases. Excludes fresh food and essential items.

Rules for Drivers to follow:

• Drive on the left-hand side of the road. 

  If you come from the US, or from another country where people drive on the right-hand side of the road, there’ll be a bit to get used to, the main thing being that you drive on the left-hand side of the road in Australia;

• Speed limits. In kilometres per hour

• In Local built up areas is usually 60 kilometres per hour (now 50klm in residential areas)

• On the highway : 100KPH (Some RARE cases you may see 120KPH)

• Heavy fines are imposed for speeding.

• Speed limit signs are posted like this 

• Ensure all occupants always wear a seat beat.

• Always carry a current drivers license.

• Do not drive whilst using a mobile phone. Fine of $90.00

• Do not drink alcohol then drive. The blood alcohol limit is .05 

• hefty penalties are imposed for most traffic infringements, so it is best to familiarize yourself with the basic rules. 

Fuel prices in Australia vary widely, depending on where you are. The far west and other isolated areas can be quite expensive for petrol (up to $1.50 or more per litre).
