Overnight 1770 Castaway Island camping adventure from Agnes Water. Live like a castaway, camping on a deserted Island near the township of 1770.

Experience an adventure of a lifetime with a choice of 1, 2 or 3 night camping adventures departing from the township of 1770 and Agnes Water to Castaway Camp located on Middle Island in Eurimbula National Park, Gladstone region.

Your adventure begins with a ride in the Aqua Duck which drops you off at the beach on your isolated island paradise - Castaway Camp. 

With only minimal numbers allowed this eco based camping experience allows you to experience a truly unique Australian bush camping adventure.   

Live like a Castaway survivor in a fully functioning campsite complete with tents, mattresses, camp kitchen, eskies, solar lights, USB power, water to refill water bottles, camp toilet along with a camp supervisor to keep things running smoothly, and help prepare a camp dinner each night (compulsory additional $5 p/night applies).

During your Great Barrier Reef bush camping adventure you can do as little or as much as you like, with no schedule you have the freedom to do as you please. 

Go for a paddle on the kayaks, zip around the creeks in a motorized boat and try your hand at fishing and crabbing. 

Check out a map and go for a hike on the trails to Bustard Head, Pancake Creek and explore the natural beauty of Eurimbula National Park.

Have a go sand boarding down the 35 metre sand dunes into the water, or simply kick back on the beach and enjoy the sand in your toes - the choice is yours.  A selection of beach games, kayaks, basic fishing equipment and rubber tubes are all available for your use during your camp.

Ensure to bring enough snacks, food and drinks for your camping adventure and remember as you'll be staying in a National Park, you are to leave nothing behind, except your foot prints.

1770 Camping Island Adventure ex Agnes Water

Day 1
Your day starts with a transfer from Agnes Water Bus Depot/Caltex service station to 1770 Marina where your Great Barrier Reef island adventure begins! 

Have your camera ready as you take in the views and experience a ride in the Aqua Duck to Middle Island (approx 30-50min).

You will be dropped of at the beach right outside Castaway Camp where you will find the fully equipped camp kitchen to store your food and drinks.  Follow the short trail to the tents which are already set up complete with thick mattresses!  Drop your sleeping bag and backpack and head off to explore your Castaway island.

During the day you are free to explore and use the camps facilities including kayaks, sand boards, motorised polycraft boats, fishing equipment, rubber tubes and selection of beach games. 

Maps of walking trails are available to explore the island along with water to refill your water bottles.

Relax on the sand, read a book in a hammock or why not explore the caves at low tide - with no schedule you can choose to do as little or as much as you like. 

In the evenings watch the sunset and help cook a hearty camp stew before you sit back and enjoy the camp fire with new found friends.  Enjoy a few campsongs or games around the camp fire and take in the amazing night sky.

Day 2
Enjoy a morning sunrise and wake to the sounds of the bush or enjoy a sleep in - the choice is yours! With no plans you can kick back and relax or prepare for more Great Barrier Reef island adventures of kayaking, sandboarding and swimming.

You will be picked up from the beach the same time you were dropped off.

Departure Instructions
  • You will attend a pre-trip briefing at the Greyhound Bus Stop on Round Hill Road (at the Caltex service station) at your nominated time, usually on the day of departure. Make sure you reconfirm your trip, if you haven't already done so, about 1-2 days prior to departure to obtain your briefing time. At the briefing, any questions can be answered.
  • Ensure you arrive 15mins before your departure time at the same location as the briefing. Collect items such as food & drinks, (no glass) prior to this time. Transportation times are tight due to tides, so it is important you are not late. If you are late the boat will leave without you and there won’t be a refund!

Compulsary $5 per night for evening meal is payable on day of departure

  • NO refunds <7days of departure date. $100 admin fee per person for refunds >7days of departure date.
  • Date Changes: NO changes <7days of your departure date (subject to our discretion). $50 admin fee per person for date changes >7days from departure date (no refunds after a date change has occurred).
