For those from Cairns and Northern Beaches, you will have the amazing journey along one of the most scenic coastal drives in the country along the 30km World Heritage Great Barrier Reef Drive which hugs the ocean and rainforest mountains or Far North Queensland.

You will arrive at the Wildlife Habitat Park in Port Douglas at around 9.00 am.

Port Douglas Wildlife Habitat

This award-winning native Australian wildlife park in scenic Port Douglas, North Queensland, Australia, gives visitors the chance to get up close to a wide range of local wildlife.

Set on eight acres of land it is the perfect window to learn about the wildlife that inhabits this precious area of the world, the Tropical World Heritage area of the Daintree Rainforest.

With an Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation, the Wildlife Habitat also works to help injured, sick and orphaned wildlife.

The habitat features 3-4 amazing environments that mimic each inhabitant's natural home, you can take a stroll through lush rainforest and on elevated boardwalks that allow you to view animals behaving as they would in the wild!

Cape Tribulation

At the banks of the scenic Daintree River, Cape Tribulation you and your tour bus will catch the Daintree Ferry.

This is an experience in itself as this seemingly old-fashioned cable ferry carries a maximum of 40 vehicles across the river at a time pulling itself along a cable that spans the width of the Daintree River.

It only takes about 5 minutes but the view as you look from the ferry down the length of the Daintree River is stunning.

Look out for those floating logs, if they have eyes, they could be the deadly estuarine or saltwater crocodiles that lurk in these waters looking for prey.

Lunch at Cape Tribulation and the afternoon activities

Tides Restaurant is a beachfront restaurant located on the pristine sands of Cape Tribulation Beach.

Choose from an eclectic menu with something to suit all tastes and dietary requirements.

You will be able to check into your selected accommodation straight after lunch.

In the afternoon, choose an activity of your choice

  • laze by the pool (depending on your choice of accommodation)
  • soak up the tranquillity on the pristine beaches at Cape Tribulation
  • laze with a book under a palm tree on the white sand beach.

Optional Jungle Surfing

On this fully guided tour, the jungle experts help you glide majestically from one tree to another. Guides are there for encouragement and safety but also to point out the surrounding flora and fauna and share fascinating facts about the rainforest.

As you descend into the heart of the forest, it may be your lucky day to spot a Bennett’s tree kangaroo, since this is the only tour where they make a regular appearance.

Optional activity must be pre-booked in package deal

Stroll into the charming little village of Cape Tribulation at dusk for a delicious tropical dinner, then prepare for the magic of twilight!

Among towering trees that outline the stars, you’ll hear the curlew and with a bit of luck may see fireflies lighting the forest. This is a stunning and unique experience full of reptiles, frogs, golden orbs and many other creatures that normally play hide and seek in the daylight hours.

Day two - Rainforest Boardwalk and Alexandra Lookout

Take a walk on along the boardwalk through the magnificent rainforest that is estimated to be around 180 million years old. On a guided walk, you’ll hear exciting facts about the hundreds of rare species found in the jungle, with 13 types of birds, and 12 of the planet’s plant families found only in Daintree.

Keep your eyes peeled for the sapphire Ulysses butterfly and camouflaged Tawny Frogmouth (an owl-like creature that resembles a wizard!).

Look to the northern coastline from Alexandra Lookout. On a clear day, you can see as far as Port Douglas or even Palm Cove's iconic Double Island.

Daintree River Cruise

This cruise is the best way to spot the much-feared Estuarine Crocodile. You might see a big 5-metre crocodile sunbaking on the river bank or staring at you with its beady half submerged eyes from a distance but chances are will see more than one.

Your friendly tour guide will know exactly where to point so you don't miss out on seeing the crocodiles, snakes and birds. You may also spot enormous moths, sparkling butterflies, turtles, crabs and river fish.
