  • The ceremonial fire lighting and spectacular display that follows. You’ll understand why they call this evening session ‘Night Fire’
  • At the tropical buffet dinner, you’ll have a chance to taste native Australian meats, including kangaroo and crocodile. Local seafood is also on offer if you’re not feeling particularly adventurous, as well as a range of salads and desserts. 

Listen to the haunting songs of the didgeridoo. Be entranced by the telling of Dream Time through dance. Join the Rainbow Serpent circle before a spectacular fire ball shoots towards the sky.

You will be welcomed with drinks and bush tucker canapés before meeting the Bama Indigenous rainforest people.

You’ll have your face painted before hearing the haunting sounds of the didgeridoo.

You’ll then be led down a firelit path to watch a corroboree celebrating the story if the Aboriginal Dream Time.

A corroboree is a visual representation, created through dramatic dancing, mime and song, of the clan’s history. You may even be inspired to join.

Next, you’ll be able to appreciate first-hand just how important ceremonies and rituals are to this ancient culture.

You’ll join the Rainbow Serpent circle where you’ll help create music with Aboriginal clap sticks as you sing along to traditional songs.

Then the ceremonial fire is lit and a spectacular fire ball shoots towards the stars.

The buffet dinner will be waiting for you.

To finish off the evening you’ll have a chance to sit beside the campfire with the Tjapukai warriors for an intimate chat and photos. 

Getting to Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park

Conveniently located, Cairns Aboriginal Cultural park is only a 15-minute drive from Cairns, Kuranda and Palm Cove.

If you choose to drive there is plenty of car parking. 

 There is also a shuttle transfer service available from your Cairns and Northern Beaches accommodation at an additional cost, please enquire at time of booking.

Your Aboriginal Cultural Tour Journey Begins

Once you have arrived, at around 7.00pm, you’ll sip complimentary sparkling wine and nibble on bush tucker-inspired canapes as you peruse the giftshop and art exhibition gallery.

Your introduction to the world’s oldest surviving civilisation will begin by meeting the Bama indigenous rainforest people.

You’ll have your face painted in a gesture designed to link you to their traditional land.

The haunting sounds of the didgeridoo will play in the background. 

The Sacred Aboriginal Corroboree

You’ll then be led down a firelit path to the rainforest dance theatre where you’ll witness a corroboree celebration of the Aboriginal Dreamtime stories.  

This visual representation, created through dramatic dancing, mime and song, will give you an insight into the clan’s history.

You may even be inspired to join. 

Lakeside Fire Ceremony

You’ll then make your way to the Tjapukai Lakeside to join the Rainbow Serpent circle.

Here you’ll become part of the performance, creating music with Aboriginal clap sticks and singing along to traditional language songs.   

The ceremonial fire is then lit, and in a climactic conclusion to the ritual, a fire spear is thrown across the lake resulting in a spectacular fire ball shooting towards the stars. 

Flame Tree Bar & Grill

Your buffet dinner of Australian meats, seafood, salads and desserts awaits.

Made with local produce the indigenous-inspired fare is sure to satisfy.

After dinner, you’ll end the evening with time by the campfire with the performers.

Take this opportunity to ask any questions you may have about their culture and the powerful performances you have both witnessed and been a part of this evening.

7.10pm:                Bush tucker-inspired canapes, complimentary sparkling wine and juice is served.
7.30pm:                Face-painting and cultural welcome with didgeridoo journey.
7.45pm:                Tjapukai Aboriginal Dance Performance.
8.00pm:                Lakeside Firemaking Ceremony with spectacular fire ball.
8.15pm:                Buffet dinner.
9.00pm:                Meet the performers by the fireside.
9.30pm:                Photo opportunity and farewell.
