From stunning look outs and waterfalls to a cathedral and sunsets by the beach, this afternoon half day Cairns tour showcase is run by experienced guides who will highlight the diverse beauty of this Tropical North Queensland city.
You’ll visit the world’s largest themed stained glass windows, depicting the story of creation, at St. Monica’s cathedral in Cairns.
Then it’s freshly-baked scones with jam and cream and a choice of locally grown tea, coffee, or hot chocolate before wandering through lush botanic gardens.
Stunning views from Cairns’ prime vantage points are next on the agenda, followed by a walk through the lower section of the Barron Falls National Park to Surprise Creek Falls.
Towards the end of the afternoon you’ll be taken to Palm Cove. This popular beach-side tourist destination north of the city was named after the trees that line the beach.
Soak in the sunset with the sand in your toes or stroll down the jetty before heading back to your accommodation or your cruise ship at Yorkeys Knob or the Cairns cruise liner terminal.
Your dedicated guide/driver will pick up guests from their accommodation on the Northern Beaches from midday.
Passengers staying in the city or on a cruise ship will be picked up from approximately 12:35pm.
For guests staying in Cairns hotels and Cairns cruise ships please make your way to our meeting point at the Reef Hotel Casino public entrance by 12:45 pm.
From the Cairns Marlin Marina, you’ll head straight to St Monica’s Cathedral.
While unassuming from the outside, its elegant interior, rich with history, will no doubt impress you.
Among its other showcases of beautiful craftsmanship throughout the cathedral, the star of the show is the world’s largest themed stained glass windows.
The series of 24 windows, known as the ‘Creation Windows’, depict the creation story by the Book of Genesis, with a local Australian slant. You certainly don’t need a religious affiliation to appreciate this artwork.
Additionally, the stained glass windows on the Abbott Street end of the church surrounding the main entrance commemorate 50 years of peace in the Pacific and are known as the ‘Peace Windows’.
Visit Cairns Museum at the School of Arts Building, in the heart of the city.
You will be greeted by a dedicated guide for an exclusive tour of the museum (free re-entry included, valid for 3 days).
Please note our visit is a 20 minute guided tour of the museum.
Next stop... Flecker Botanic Gardens to discover the unique flora of the tropics.
Enjoy a guided walk in the gardens before heading to Noa's for afternoon tea.
Next stop is a spot of afternoon tea, we visit Noa’s a local cafe in Edge Hill for a Devonshire afternoon tea.
Your guide will then take you to one of Cairns’ top lookouts, the Copperlode Dam Lookout, where you’ll enjoy uninterrupted scenic views.
From there you’ll be taken to the lower section of the Barron Gorge National Park to take in the spectacle of Surprise Creek Falls.
Then it’s on to the final spot for the afternoon... Palm Cove.
Named after the palm trees that line the beach, Palm Cove has mix of sophisticated restaurants, casual cafes, bars, boutiques, and resorts.
Take in the sunset with the sand between your toes, or stroll down the jetty before your return transfer to your accommodation.

We enjoyed our tour and found it quite interesting. We would have preferred to do some more sightseeing rather than have afternoon tea at the gardens. We learnt a lot about the area as the guide was very knowledgeable.
