Our most popular Cairns helicopter scenic flight. This 30 minute Great Barrier Reef scenic flight takes in the highlights of the inner reef from Cairns city.
There is simply no better way to appreciate the sheer scale of the Great Barrier Reef than from the seat of a helicopter when you are visiting Cairns and Far North Queensland.
On our Cairns helicopter flight you can expect picture postcard views of the reef and an abundance of marine life - Sharks, Turtles and even humpback whales in season (July - Nov).
This 30 minute helicopter flight departs Cairns General Avaiation airport and tacks out from the mainland with views of Cairns and Trinity Inlet, passing False Cape where you can see the remnants of WW11 defences still in place, Mt Yarrabah, Mission Bay and Cape Grafton on the southern side of Cairns city.
Our helicopter pilot then flys out to the inner edge of the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef and Green Island, a 6,000 year-old coral sand island that boats its own native rainforest eco-system.
Your helicopter flight path then tracks to the north as we explore the western side of Arlington Reef which is home to a diverse range of marine creatures - turtles, sharks and sting rays.
Continuing north we'll circle Vlasoff Cay a tiny sand island in the middle of the Great Barrier Reef that reduces to onle a few hundred square metres in size at high tide.
After circling Vlasoff Cay and taking pictures from the seat of our helicopter we head west, over Upolu Cay and back to Cairns taking in fantastic views of the Far North Queensland coastline framed by the lush rainforest-covered eastern slopes of the Great Dividing Range behind Cairns city.
