Spend a day exploring ancient rainforest, Barron Gorge National Park and the mountain village of Kuranda. Your day will include a journey into the rainforest onboard the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway, 4 hours to explore Kuranda Village and return scenic ride upon the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.
Day 2 will have you taking in the sites of the mighty Great Barrier Reef from above and below the water, with a boat cruise to outer reef locations complete with snorkeling and a BBQ lunch, followed by a scenic helicopter flight over the reef and back to Cairns.

Departing from Cairns, this is the ultimate reef and rainforest experience ideal for those wishing to discover the very best of the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage Listed Rainforest at a slow and steady pace. Day 1 will include a journey upon the iconic Rainforest Scenic Railway, Barron Falls, 4 hours at Kuranda Village and return journey to Cairns onboard the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Day 2 will have you cruising to outer reef locations onboard a luxury catamaran where you will enjoy a guided snorkel tour, a semi-submersible boat tour and a BBQ lunch before making your way back to Cairns with a scenic helicopter flight above the Great Barrier Reef.
Begin your day with a courtesy pick up in an air conditioned coach from your accommodation in Cairns, Cairns northern beaches or Palm Cove at around 8:00am. Exact pick up times and location will be provided at time of booking. From here your coach will make its way to the station as you prepare to board the Kuranda Scenic Railway.
Departing at 8:30am, the Kuranda Scenic Railway will begin its journey deep into World Heritage rainforest. Enjoy a magical one and a half hour’s journey from Cairns, through ancient rainforest clad mountains, Barron Gorge National Park and to the quaint rainforest village of Kuranda. Enjoy breathtaking scenery, towering waterfalls and deep ravines as the train winds its way through 15 hand-made tunnels and over 37 bridges. Provided with audio commentary, you will learn of the historic railway and the many interesting facts and stories about the ancient rainforest. Soon you will arrive at the iconic Barron Falls where you will have 10 minutes to hop out of the carriage and watch the majestic 260 metre high cascading waters as they flow deep into the gorge. A great place to snap some holiday photos! Jumping back on board the train, you will then make a short journey to humble and colourful mountain village of Kuranda.

Your scenic railway journey will soon arrive in Kuranda Village, a quaint and colourful village nestled 1,000 metres above Cairns. Here you will have around 4 hours to explore all that this unique destination has on offer. Discover the many markets and stalls, pay a visit to the Aboriginal art galleries or grab a bite to eat or a coffee at one of the many cafes. Visit the many tourist attractions nestled within the community including Birdworld, Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and the Kuranda Koala Gardens.
To really experience all that Kuranda Village has on offer, we recommend upgrading to the Rainforestation Nature Park package. Nestled within Kuranda, the Rainforestation Nature Park will have you exploring the region’s unique flora and fauna, learning of the local indigenous culture and getting up close and personal with an abundance of Australian wildlife. Entry includes a 45 minute rainforest tour onboard a World War II Army Duck. This unique experience will have you cruising through the rainforest and lakes, spotting for wildlife, learning about the region’s unique plants and visiting a tropical fruit orchard. After exploring the rainforest by Duck, you will then enjoy a buffet lunch and a Dreamtime Walk where you will have the opportunity to learn about the region’s indigenous culture. Enjoy a traditional Corroboree, learn how to throw a boomerang and take part in traditional spear throwing. You will then have the opportunity to get up and close and personal with many native animals including crocodiles, wombats, dingoes and the option to have a photo with a Koala or hand feed a Kangaroo.
After enjoying 4 hours at Kuranda Village, you will then board the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway to enjoy a scenic journey back to Cairns. This unique experience will have you seated safely in the comfort of your very own cable car, complete with large viewing windows for you to soak in the stunning sights of the rainforest, coastline and surrounding Cairns region. You will glide above the rainforest canopies and lush green mountains with your highest point reaching 40.5 metres above sea level. The journey will take around one and a half hours with two stations where you can hop off along the way. Barron Falls Station includes a fantastic information centre conducted by the CSIRO with statistics of the rainforest and animal life. The second jump off location is Red Peak Station which boasts a 175 metre boardwalk with informative signs along the way to educate you on the rainforest.
Returning to Cairns at around 4:30pm, you will then enjoy return coach transfers to your accommodation in Cairns, Cairns northern beaches or Palm Cove.

If you are self driving, you can check in at the Down Under Cruise & Dive office at Reef Fleet Terminal in Cairns at 7:30am for an 8:15am departure.
Upon boarding your luxury vessel, you will begin your journey to the outer Great Barrier at 8:15am. With 12 exclusive moorings at six reef locations, your outer reef destinations will be chosen on the day dependent on weather conditions and water clarity to ensure that you have the best underwater experience on the day. Generally, the first outer reef destination is Norman Reef or Saxon Reef, before travelling to North Hastings Reef in the afternoon. Take a seat in the air conditioned cabin or head to the top deck for some fantastic photo opportunities as you cruise out to the reef. Soon you will arrive at the first of your outer reef locations. Onboard the vessel you will have plenty of time to relax. Relax on a sun lounge on the top deck, enjoy a cheeky sunbake on the middle deck or take a seat outside on the front of the vessel. For those eager to explore the unique coral gardens, marine life and reef formations below, free snorkeling equipment and demonstrations are provided throughout the day. For beginners, the onboard Divemasters will provide in depth briefings and tips on where to find the cool stuff. Wetsuits, noodles and life jackets are also available. Enjoy a guided snorkeling tour whilst onboard to really experience the best of the many reef sites. A delicious BBQ lunch will be served onboard including prawns, fish, steak, sausages, vegetarian options, tropical salads and pastas. After soaking in the pristine and spectacular underwater sights of your first reef location, you will then cruise out to your next outer reef location.
There’s no better way to experience the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef than by a guided scuba dive. With 12 exclusive moorings located at six reef locations, your boat cruise will journey to the best sites on the day depended on weather and water clarity, which means you will be greeted with the best possible visibility and pristine conditions on the day. Your diving experience will be led by a team of experienced PADI professionals who will lead you through colourful coral gardens and unique marine life direct from the onboard diving platform. For introductory divers, no experience is necessary and your experienced guides will be with you every step of the way. For certified divers, you will have the option to enjoy up to 3 divers per day.
After enjoying a relaxing and exciting 5 hours on the outer Great Barrier Reef, you will then enjoy a 25 minute scenic helicopter flight back to Cairns. Before boarding your luxury helicopter, you will meet your experienced and friendly Pilot guide for a pre departure briefing. Once seated in the comfort of the helicopter, your flight will then take off from the outer reef heli pad. Prepare to be amazed as your flight begins its journey over the many wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Soon you will be greeted with spectacular views of Hastings Reef, Saxon Reef and Norman Reef as you begin your once in a life time scenic adventure. Listen as you pilot provides inflight commentary and information about the many reef formations, sand cays and islands throughout the flight. Continuing west you will soon be welcomed by beautiful views of the Arlington Reef System. Your pilot will have you spotting for marine life including turtles, rays, sharks and large tropical fish. From here you will glide past Vlasoff Cay and Upolu Cay, white sand islands that majestically sit upon the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Soon you will be greeted by beautiful views of Green Island and its white sands, fringing reefs and lush rainforest. As you continue towards to the mainland, you may be lucky to spot Humpback Whales if you are travelling throughout winter. Have your camera in hand as the sparkling azure waters of the reef soon transform into the stunning stretch of coastline on the mainland. Be rewarded with breath taking views of Palm Cove, Cairns Northern Beaches and Cairns city.
Returning to the Cairns heli pad, you will farewell your friendly pilot before enjoying return coach transfers to your accommodation in Cairns, Cairns Northern Beaches or Palm Cove.
