Hidden inside the World Heritage-listed rainforests of the Atherton Tablelands, there lies a lake of natural beauty awaiting your discovery.
Lake Barrine is a sapphire jewel of Far North Queensland and a feature attraction on this walking tour.
The lake is in fact a volcanic crater, estimated at 12,000 years old.
You'll cruise the calm waters with the chance of wildlife encounters, such as amethystine pythons which can sometimes be seen on the embankments.
And in the waterways, treasures such as the saw-shelled turtle can frequently be spotted in the shallows, as well as Boyd’s Water Dragon - a colourful little fellow found only in the Wet Tropics of Australia.
You will arrive at Yungaburra around 11:30am and this is where you get a chance to spot a platypus.
During your time at Yungaburra you will learn all about the elusive platypus but don't forget to look up as this is where you can also observe tree kangaroos.
Next stop Lake Eacham.
You can choose to take a refreshing swim or if swimming in an ancient and extint volcanic crater is not your thing there are several natures sites to explore.
This clear turquoise lake is surrounded by pristine rainforest, and is home to some of the world’s rarest wildlife.
Though separate to Lake Barrine, this stunning water system is likewise a volcanic crater, (a Maar) and estimated to have formed 12,000 years ago.
Choose to walk on the shoreline, float upon the calm surface, or simply sit and listen to the echo of songbirds calling through the jungle.

There again you will get a chance to spot a Mapee (Lumholtz Tree Kangaroo).
We again take you on a walk to observe the local wildlife such as Freshwater Snapping Turtle and the Grey-headed Robin.
The Malanda Conservation Park is also home to a stunning waterfall - fantastic photo opportunities.
This will be our last stop before heading back to Cairns.
Inside the evergreen labyrinth of the ancient Wet Tropics rainforest, you’ll uncover the famed Cathedral Tree.
You’ll be led there, off the beaten path, through sun-dappled boardwalks under a treetop canopy.
In amongst the palms and ferns, this majestic strangler fig appears as king of the forest with its sheer size and intricate formation.
