A Private Charter is a great opportunity to celebrate a special occasion, while creating quality memories with a small group of your friends, family & work colleagues.

The opportunity to see Humpback Whales is a BONUS, but not guaranteed on all our tours through the migration period (approximately mid July till early September- the best month is August).

For the half day sailing and snorkelling tour we will anchor at Five Beach Bay and don our snorkel gear and hit the water to meet the wonderful marine life here that are very friendly.

Circumnavigate Magnetic Island.

For the adventurous or those who just like to give it go, jump in behind the helm or be part of the sailing action, we have paddle boards available as well.

Notes

The SNORKELLING around Magnetic Island is fringing Great Barrier Reef and is visibility and weather dependent, but we will ensure we show you the best locations on the day.

 We do not provide catering. Please 'BRING YOUR OWN' beverages and nibbles in a small cooler bag or esky.

Magnetic Island

Magnetic Island is 8 kilometres or 5.0 mile offshore from Townsville and offers visitors 5184 hectares of mountainous island which is 70% World Heritage listed National Park with 24 kilometres of bushwalking tracks and 23 beach bays some only accessible on a boat.

On Magnetic Island guests will see pine forests, World War 11 artefacts, shipwrecks and native Australian wildlife such as cute koalas, Rock Wallabies, Echidnas, possums and around 187 bird species. 

There are 23 bays around Magnetic Island and we will call into the best one’s to snorkel the fringing reef, meet the marine life and enjoy some lovely lunch as we bob around on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

Our Vessel

RAG (14m) is a German Frers sloop design, a racing vessel & our smaller vessel.

She is one of Syd Fisher's famous vessels named Ragamuffin & she was number 3. 

Syd Fisher is described as one of Australia's most successful offshore sailor. 

RAG is a BRING YOUR OWN EVERYTHING option (beverages and nibbles- not catered).

This vessel is not suitable for small children 4 years and under, as well as guests with mobility concerns and poor fitness level or limitations.

Meet The Crew

Our passion, commitment, & many years of experience in the marine tourism industry, inspired us to follow our dream of owning and operating our own charter vessel (dreams do come true).
13 years later we are still happily sharing our vessels, our lifestyle and backyard with others.

We are proud that we have expanded our business over the years. In 2019 we restored RAG and late 2023 we acquired and restored our third vessel SAM (available for overnight charters soon).

Stu has been sailing since he was 8 years old and for the past almost 40 years has been working in the marine commercial industry, as a mate/snorkel guide, skippering, engineering on vessels and also as a skipper.

Lisa has been sailing and working in the commercial marine industry since she first met Stu over 29 years ago whilst living in Townsville and working for Coral Princess Cruises.

We both completed our Master V and Marine Engineer Driver 111 commercial tickets and have been skippering  vessels prior to owning and operating their own business.

In 2004, we welcomed a new yachty aboard with the arrival of our son Fletcher.

Fletcher lived on board all his life & he was home schooled.

Fletcher is a competent crew member and has gained many important life skills & diverse marine experience. He also has his Master V, Marine Engine Driver 11 & STWC.

Coco, has lived on the boat since she was 8 weeks old. She turns 13 years old in May. She is a North Queensland born doggie, she was born in Cairns. This little dog has sailed enough sea miles in her life, that are equal to being around the world three times.

Prior to that, we spent around 16 years cruising, & we have sailed extensively in the waters of Australia, the Torres Straits, The Gulf, PNG &  SE Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia & Thailand).

We offer a unique and authentic sailing experience for small groups of guests focussed on caring for our environment, in a natural, relaxed & fun atmosphere.

We are committed & passionate about our oceans, reducing environmental impact as much as we can, sailing (rather than motoring) & we have snorkelling procedures in place, with a guide, tender & floating devices, to reduce environmental impact while educating our guests to respect our Reef & marine life.

Some examples of how we are reducing our carbon footprint & emissions; our boats are fitted with solar panels, wind generators, water desalination, LED lights & more. 

Sailing & spending time on board our yachts also educates our guests the importance of conserving water & the importance of appreciating cultural understanding & sustainability, which is naturally provided on board by our crew. 

Our environment, especially the ocean is very important to us, especially being a liveaboard yachty family, sharing our lifestyle, home & ocean backyard with YOU!
