You’re treated to outstanding views and exciting attractions on this one day four wheel drive and scenic flight tour northwards to Cooktown, the historic town of Far North Queensland.
After being picked up from your Cairns, Northern Beaches or Port Douglas accommodation in our luxury purpose-built air-conditioned 4WD vehicle, stunning coastline vistas are revealed on the Great Barrier Reef Drive as well as the lush scenery of the world’s oldest rainforest, the World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest.
Further impressive landscapes are showcased from the Daintree and Cape Tribulation Bloomfield Track.
Travelling over rugged mountain ranges and rivers you’ll stop at quirky 1875 bush pub, the Lions Den Hotel before travelling into historic Cooktown.
With your free time, discover its fascinating heritage sites and unspoilt walking trails and interesting attractions including beautiful botanic gardens.
Enjoy the picturesque panorama from Grassy Hill before a breath-taking aerial scenic flight of the Queensland coast and the Great Barrier Reef greets you on your flight back from Cooktown to Cairns.
A stunning coastline greets you on your drive along the Great Barrier Reef Highway which you’ll also have a great bird’s eye view of later, on your flight home from Cooktown.
Luxury four wheel drive travel through the World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest National Park, viewing its lush vistas is ahead of us once we cross the wild Daintree River by barge and enter the forest.
This opportunity to spot delightful birds, butterflies and wildlife enhances the wonderful experience – so keep a lookout, great for photography as are all the amazing views!
We will have a morning tea stop here at Cape Tribulation Beach and then engage our 4WD and head up the famous Bloomfield Track navigating creek crossing and steep mountain ranges.
Just before Cooktown we have another break at the Lions Den Hotel.
Explore an old bush pub, The Lions Den Hotel, built in 1875, and one of the oldest still running in Queensland.
Be sure to check out the unique prospector artefacts displayed in its museum. Further live Australian history by using your free time of around two hours in Cooktown to explore its charming main street and heritage listed buildings.
Soak up the atmosphere of a place that’s changed little since Cook strode the streets in 1770.
Upon arrival in Cooktown in the early afternoon we then make our way up to Grassy Hill lookout to observe the panoramic views of Cooktown, the Coral Sea and Endeavour River.
Your tour guide will then give a guided tour of the Esplanade and its landmarks before giving you free time to explore Cooktown at your leisure.
The day concludes with a commercial flight along the scenic Daintree Coast and the Great Barrier Reef with Hinterland Aviation.
Cooktown Airport transfers are included and depart at around 4:30pm.
The flight departs Cooktown at 5:45pm and arrives Cairns General Aviation Airport at 6:30pm.
Transfers are provided for guests on the Northern Beaches and Port Douglas.
Guests staying in Cairns will need to make their own way back to their accommodation, Taxis/Uber are available at own cost and can be requested on board your flight.
