  • The sweeping views at Mount Alexandra Lookout provide an excellent selfie opportunity. You’ll see where the Daintree River mouth meets the Great Barrier Reef. Snapper Island and Low Isles are also visible.
  • Untouched by urban development the Daintree Rainforest is home to ancient plants and unique fauna you would otherwise never see. The passion and vast knowledge of your guide will become apparent within the first few minutes of boarding your vehicle, so if we had one tip for you it would be to keep listening to your guide throughout the day.
  • The purpose built 4WD trucks on this Daintree Rainforest and Caoe Tribulation tour are famous and everyone who sees them wants to book their day tour with us.

A top level Daintree and Cape Tribulation Rainforest tour with passionate rainforest guides and purpose built distinctive four wheel drive vehicles. We go deeper into the rainforest up the Bloomfield tracks, swim in billabongs, cruise the Daintree River, Barbeque lunch, kangaroos, Wildlife

During this full-day tour of the Daintree Rainforest, you’ll explore the wonders of this World-Heritage listed gem on a small and personalised day tour.

Our purpose built 4WD vehicles are unique to Far North Queensland and are fully air conditioned.  The extra large windows offer great viewing and a speaker system allows all guest to hear the commentary throughout the journey.

Our experienced and passionate guide will share their extensive knowledge of the region; including its history, insights into Indigenous culture, and the unique flora and fauna you’ll see along the way.

You’ll go on a guided Daintree River cruise, looking out for crocodiles; you’ll enjoy seeing spectacular wildlife; hand-feed Kangaroos and Wallabies; stroll along Cape Tribulation Beach, where the rainforest meets the reef; and you’ll embark on one of the most scenic four-wheel-drive tracks called the Bloomfield Track that’ll take you to the pristine, cool waters of Emmagen Creek for a refreshing dip.

Of course, the day wouldn’t be complete without a cup of traditional Billy Tea, made in a traditional Australian Billy.

Pick-ups are available from Cairns city, the Northern Beaches and Port Douglas. Morning tea and lunch are provided.

Your Daintree Rainforest Tour Begins

The day will begin with a pick-up from your accommodation.

If you are staying in Cairns city, the pick-up time will be between 6.50am and 7.15am.

The Northern Beaches pick up will start at approximately 7.20am.

Then it’s on to Port Douglas, travelling up the scenic coastal route along the Great Barrier Reef Drive that offers sweeping views over the coral sea, to pick-up the Port Douglas contingent from about 8.20am.

Off We Go

Our first exciting activity on the Daintree Rainforest tour is a guided nature cruise on the Daintree River.

We enjoy some local hospitality and morning tea before joining our nature guide on the boat to begin our mighty river cruise.

Keep your eyes peeled for estuarine crocodiles, particularly along the mangroves and keep your limbs well inside the boat at all time.

Rest assured your river guide will take you to the favourite haunts of these prehistoric creatures but if you think you see a suspicious ripple, don’t be shy in letting him know.

On this Daintree River Cruise you will learn so much about the region, the Aboriginals that call the Daintree home and the rare and endangered native Australian animals that are essentially connected to the survival of this the world oldest living rainforest.

Panoramic View & Daintree Rainforest Exploration

It’s then a climb up the Alexandra Range in the purpose-built vehicle to the first spectacular lookout of the day.

From here you’ll see where the mouth of the Daintree River empties out into the Coral Sea.

You’ll also see Snapper Island – notice how it looks like a crocodile – and Low Isles in the distance.

Also known as the Wet Tropics the Daintree and Cape Tribulation Rainforests are one of the most complex ecosystems on earth.

When you consider the varying landscape, from mountain ranges, to fast-flowing streams, gorges and dense rainforest, it is hardly surprising.

Your experienced tour guide will take you on a tour through a section of national park, pointing out native Australian wildlife that you most likely would’ve walked straight past.

The defense mechanism of the Boyd’s Forest Dragon for example is to not move, but the sharp eye of your tour guide will spot him.

Meet Native Australian Marsupials

Next stop is Lync Haven. A rainforest retreat, Lync Haven is also home to a native Australian wildlife experience that’ll have you getting up close and personal with snakes, frogs and lizards endemic to the area.

And if you didn’t spot a crocodile on the Daintree Rive cruise, here’s your chance.

If your preference is cute and cuddly though, you can hand-feed the friendly wallabies.

The property’s wildlife keeper and your guide will happily answer any questions you have.

It’s here you’ll also enjoy a delicious barbecue lunch with freshly prepared salads in a beautiful rainforest setting.

Refreshing Rainforest Dips

After lunch your tour guide will take you past more beautiful scenery, along dense, tree-laden mountains and the Daintree Tea Plantation, right through to the famous Bloomfield Track.

This controversial four-wheel-drive road is only partially sealed and can be inaccessible after heavy rains.

If weather permits you’ll drive along to Emmagen Creek, a pristine and picturesque swimming hole.

This is the only Daintree Rainforest tour able to take you to this creek so you won’t be overcome with crowds of people also wanting an afternoon swim. Keep a look out for jungle perch and turtles too.

It’s here that your guide will prepare a uniquely Australian brew; billy tea. Sip your cuppa as you take in the tranquil surroundings.

Heading Home

You’ll then make your way to Cape Tribulation Beach where you can stroll along the sand or wonder further on, down the boardwalk towards the platform.

At the end of the platform you’ll have a panoramic view of the azure sea enveloped by a semi-circle of coastal mountains.

It’s here that the ‘rainforest meets the reef’ and it’s standing in this spot that you’ll understand why; the beach backs straight on to the rainforest.

On the way home, you’re in for a tasty treat at the Daintree Ice Cream Company. All the flavours are made using fruit grown on the grounds. The cup of four scoops will go down very easily and with flavours like mango, coconut, macadamia and wattle seed you know you’re in for a genuine taste of the tropics.

A cup of ice cream is at your own expense and it’s cash only.

Then it’s time to cross the old-fashioned cable ferry as we head home.

First stop is for those staying in Port Douglas, at approximately 5.30pm, followed by Northern Beaches for about 6.00pm and then a 6.30pm drop-off for those staying in Cairns’ CBD.

Loved it :) I have done this particular tour before (3 years ago) and I decided to do it again with my husband. I like the fact that Billy Tea Safari's go to Emmagen Creek for the fruit tasting / swim / paddle. Its such a beautiful spot. The weather wasn't the best but we managed to dodge most of the rain. I have done approx 6 different Cape Trib tours which were all great but this is my favourite and we will probably do it again if we come back up. The only issue we had was that Andres (?) our guide from Argentina (I think) was very hard to understand sometimes.

We had a wonderful time on this tour and it was the highlight of our weeks holiday in Cairns. Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to billy tea safaris and our tour guide Finn in particular. His knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for the daintree really made the day agreat experience. Five stars.
