Your Daintree Rainforest tour starts with a pick up from your Cairns accommodation at around 7am.
From there you will be heading north along the scenic coastal road, first stop being in beautiful Palm Cove where we will possibly pick up some more day tour guests.
You will also learn about the ancient Melaleuca trees that line the pretty esplanade.
Some of these trees are hundreds of years old and their size is really quite impressive.
After Palm Cove you will head towards Port Douglas, stopping briefly in Rex Lookout which is a top spot for hang-gliding and picture perfect coastal photos.
Once in Port Douglas you will have another chance to take in the scenic coastal views, you will be visiting Flag Staff Hill lookout where you will have stunning views to iconic Four Mile Beach and rainforest clad mountains.
Just 20 minutes after Port Douglas you will have the chance to merge yourself into the rainforest in Mossman Gorge where you will be greeted with morning tea and damper.
You will be walking though some of the most amazing rainforest and hear why this area is so important to indigenous Aboriginal people.
Mossman Gorge belongs to part of the Southern end of the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park.
After taking in all the amazing scenery and information in Mossman Gorge it is time for an early lunch in Daintree Teahouse.
Here you are spoilt with choices as you can choose to eat fish, steak, chicken or even a kangaroo.
Daintree Teahouse is one of the first restaurants opened in Daintree, it is tucked away in a beautiful rainforest setting and you can even buy some locally grown tea from there and sample some exotic tropical fruit.
Once you have indulged from all the edible goodness it is time for a Daintree river cruise.
Here you get the chance to spot some of the most feared and admired creatures on earth- saltwater crocodiles.
The Daintree River cruise is equally good for doing some birdwatching and spotting lizards and rainforest snakes- with the help of your knowledgeable guide of course.
After the river cruise you will be on the road again and head even deeper into the world’s oldest rainforest.
You will stop at the Alexandra Lookout where on a cloudless day you will have the views all the way to Palm Cove and Cairns.
Snapper Island can also easily be spotted due to its distinctive crocodile shape.
Shortly after you will be walking along Kulki boardwalk and Cape Tribulation Beach which is the only place in the whole world where two World Heritage Listed sites meet- Daintree rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
You will be walking through the world’s oldest rainforest and with a bit of help from your guide, hopefully you will get the chance to even see the endangered flightless bird Cassowary.
Goannas aka monitor lizards are also frequently seen in this area. Learn about fragile rainforest ecosystem and what we all can do to preserve it for the future generations.
On the way home you will also be visiting Daintree Ice Cream Company which is a popular local stop on a hot sunny day. You will get enough time to sample some exotic flavors (own expense).
Once crossed mighty Daintree river one more time by cable ferry, it is time to head back to Cairns along the scenic coastal road.
A Daintree rainforest tour is one of the “must” experiences in Cairns and need to be pre-booked well in advance to be sure you will not miss one of the highlights of your Cairns trip especially if you are looking for a small group premium tour such as ours.

Daintree Ice Cream Company
It was an awesome day, we learnt so much about the Daintree, and the way it was presented to us by our Tour Guide Michael (Mick) was so much fun. He really looked after us. He was very friendly and the jokes were an added extra all on their own. We were only a small group which meant we had more time to look around than a much larger group. The staff of the Solar Whisperer Croc Boat were very friendly and created a good atmosphere, answering all our questions. The morning tea and lunch was so very good, the added extra of the Daintree Icecream Factory was a highlight. I highly recommend this tour package to anyone.
