Your Fraser Island day four wheel drive tour departs from Noosa & Rainbow Beach with a scenic drive through Toolara Sate Forest before boarding a ferry to K'gari (Fraser Island)

K'gari (Fraser Island) Day Tour Itinerary?

Your K’Gari (Fraser Island) adventure begins with a scenic drive through Toolara State Forest, where you may spot kangaroos or even a koala. We stop in Rainbow Beach township briefly where you will be transferred to your 4WD ‘Warrior’ vehicle for the day. 

It’s a short drive from there to Inskip Point where we board the ferry over to the world’s largest sand island.  Keep an eye out for sea life during the crossing!

Journey up the beach highway, complete with speed limits, to a freshwater creek on the beach for morning tea and spotting for wildlife such as dingoes or whales (July-November).

We then venture into the heart of the island to visit the famous and beautiful Lake McKenzie where you have free time to enjoy a swim in the clear waters, relax on the white sandy beach or explore the area. 

After lunch, learn about the history of K'gari (Fraser Island) at Central Station and then opt for a self-guided journey alongside Wanggoolba Creek through the rainforest to Pile Valley.

Return through the towering forests of satinay and brushbox trees back to the beach highway for our ferry back to the mainland.

Please note K'gari (Fraser Island) Day tour is a 4WD experience, which may not be suitable for all travellers.

• Pickup times start at 5.45am in Sunshine Beach, with most Noosa pickups completed by 6.20am
• Pickup in Rainbow Beach is 8am
• Passengers departing in Rainbow Beach can expect a drop off around 3pm*, and passengers departing in Noosa can expect to be dropped off between 5 and 5.30pm

• We don’t impose an age limit on joining the tour, as we feel parents are best equipped to decide if the tour is right for them or not. Things we ask parents to consider, particularly for young children, are the length of the day, the length of time spent on the bus and the limited amenities for attending to children throughout the day. If you have young children and would like to know more, please contact our office prior to booking.
• If you are bringing a child under the age of 7 years old, you must provide suitable child restraints /car seat / booster seat which complies with QLD laws, as Discovery Adventure Group is not able to provide these. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure the child restraints are correctly installed.
