The 74 Whitsunday Islands are located just off the north east coast of Queensland and on the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
This is an area teeming with marine life (and not much human life) and is truly one of nature’s most scenic playgrounds.
The tropical islands are characterised by hiking trails, dense rainforest and stretching swathes of white sand beaches.
This is a Whitsundays yacht tour with plenty of room where you can stretch out relax and is perfect for those who wish to escape the boats with large loud crowds.
Your sailing yacht is a 60ft (18m) fibreglass constructed Roberts ketch. If you are wondering how a ketch distinguishes itself from other boats, it’s easy - you just count the sails.
A ketch is a yacht with two masts, where the forward of the two masts, known as the mainmast, is larger than the after mast, known as the mizzen.
She will be sailed by an experienced crew of two.
Your ketch has been designed with a spacious deck area, so there’s a lot of room to kick back and relax.
Comfort was a prime consideration in its build 40+ years ago and the below decks have been made with ample headroom.
At 8 feet (2.43 metres) you can be rest assured that the only head banging you will be doing will be restricted to the music you are listening to!
At 8.15am, you will board your sailing yacht, meet the crew and be shown to your spacious cabin.
Then at 8.30am, it's time to head out from Airlie Beach for the start of your amazing two-day Great Barrier Reef sailing adventure.
Feel the wind in your hair and be serenaded by the splash of the waves against the bow and the flapping of the wind in the sails.
For the active and not so active there is something to do that will please everyone.
You will be visiting pristine bays with coral gardens, exotic fish and aquamarine waters. Snorkelling is the best way to see this amazing underwater marine life.
Whether you are a beginner or a bit more experienced, your crew can give you instructions on how to use your snorkel equipment and advise you on the best snorkel places at each stop.
All Snorkel equipment is provided.
If you just want a quick dip then swimming off the back of the yacht in the warm tropical waters is a good way to cool down.
Stay dry activities
For those who just want to kick back and relax, lounging on the spacious decks on the boat or sunbathing on the white sandy beaches of pristine bays is the perfect place to unwind.
After an amazing day and toasting the stunningly beautiful sunset as it sets at the end of a fun-filled sail you’ll be ready to sleep well in your comfortable quarters.
Pulling up the anchor to the clanking of the chain you will set sail slowly sailing out of the sheltered bay to explore and discover more of the beautiful Whitsunday Islands.
Starting with a delicious continental breakfast, your second day will be spent very much like the first one – exploring exotic tropical islands with pristine bays and beaches.

The Great Barrier Reef is home to six species of the world’s seven species of turtles. Turtles can be seen all around the Whitsundays and snorkelling with one of them is one of the great highlights of the cruise.
Nesting turtles lay their eggs on many of the Whitsunday beaches between November and February so you can often see their tracks on the beaches in the morning.
You might be lucky enough to see them if you visit the beaches late at night. With an eight week incubation period, the eggs hatch from January onwards.
