Day 1: Moore Reef

Travel to a floating pontoon

Hop aboard your high-speed catamaran, grab a fresh coffee and ltake in the views of East Trinity and Yarrabah as you’re entertained by a reef presentation and get some snorkelling tips from a knowledgeable marine guide.

The state-of-the-art Moore Reef pontoon is your activity centre for the day.

  • Explore the spacious two-storey pontoon and relax on the super-sized sundeck
  • The kids will love the fully enclosed children’s pool
  • Whiz down the one-of-a-kind waterslide into the reef
  • Experience the unique marine life touch tank
  • Visit the underwater observatory
  • Enjoy a buffet lunch with seafood and tropical fruits

From the moment you arrive, feel free to pop on your snorkel and dive into the sparkling water, home to stunning coral gardens and a multitude of reef fish and marine life.

Snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef

Snorkel amongst stunning coral formations and tropical rainbow-coloured fish that are unlike anything you’ve ever encountered.

Let your body drift on the ocean surface and take in the remarkable vision beneath. Or hold your breath and plunge deep to get a closer look at the magic of a giant purple clam, or clownfish darting in and out of a flowing sea anemone. And don’t be surprised if a sea turtle suddenly appears; an appearance that will captivate snorkellers of all ages!

Glass bottom boat tour

The glass bottom boat tour is custom-made for those who prefer not to get wet, aren’t strong swimmers, or are simply feeling a little waterlogged after snorkelling. No less detailed or impressive than a diving birds-eye view, you’ll view the stunning underwater world through the bottom of the boat.

View cabbage-shaped coral flowers; watch as sparkling yellow and blue parrotfish peer through the boat windows; and be on the lookout for rays or even a ribbon of eels peeping out from a coral crevice. There will likely be more marine life than you can count, and you'll find out fascinating information from an onboard marine biologist about each species you spot.

Semi-submersible tour

Located one metre under the water's surface, the specially designed semi-submarine will propel you in dry comfort to get an up close perspective of Moore Reef. Enjoy thirty minutes of up-close Reef viewing in air-conditioned comfort.

As part of the onboard package, you'll also enjoy an interactive marine presentation, which you can listen to as you gaze through the windows at some of the Reef's rare marine species.

There is also a range of exciting optonal activities to choose from:

Interactive snorkel adventure (optional extra activity)

Experience the best of the Great Barrier Reef on this interactive snorkel tour. A marine naturalist will lead the tour and provide you with some fascinating facts about the diverse marine life you spot along the way, such as sea cucumbers, brilliant starfish and perhaps a sleepy ray hiding in the sand.

Introductory scuba diving (optional extra activity)

Moore Reef and its world heritage environment are all about discovery. And after snorkelling in this marine park, you might feel you are ready to expand your experience and to try your first ever dive.  We highly recommend pre-booking to avoid missing out.

An experienced instructor will teach you every skill needed for this endeavour. With an introductory dive, you are given a taste of the thrill of the world beneath the surface, diving first as a group and then separating to explore a little more independently.  Keep your eys out for Wally the Maori Wrasse who likes to hang out with the divers.

Certified scuba diving (optional extra activity)

You haven’t scuba dived until you have scuba dived the Great Barrier Reef! You'll be paired up with a dive buddy of equal experience for this unforgettable underwater journey. Moore Reef offers some spectacular dive sites where you'll witness an ever-present array of unique reef fish and stunning coral canyons, spot clownfish (Nemo) colonies, sea turtles, and ‘Wally’ the giant Maori Wrasse - the friendliest fish on the Reef!

Seawalker platform helmet diving (optional extra activity)

Seawalker is an exciting way to experience the Great Barrier Reef without getting your hair wet. No prior dive knowledge or experience is required and you will be guided on your adventure by a qualified instructor. Unlike traditional scuba diving, Seawalker enables you to breathe through your nose and mouth as you would above water. Seawalker offers all the excitement of scuba diving without getting wet and is ideal for non-swimmers.

Scenic helicopter flight (optional extra activity)

View the vastness and beauty of the Reef from above on a scenic helicopter flight. This exciting and breathtaking experience gives you the chance to see the brilliant coral formations, groups of turtles, sharks and rays as you cruise approximately 500ft over the Great Barrier Reef and pass the coastline of Cairns.

Day 2: Fitzroy Island

You'll depart Cairns Marlin Marina at 9.30am. Enjoy complimentary tea and coffee served onboard the spacious, high-speed catamaran, then sit back and relax for the quick 45-minute cruise to Fitzroy Island.

You'll have over five hours to explore beautiful Fitzroy Island's pristine beaches and untouched forests, and enjoy a host of water and land-based activities.

You may want to begin the day with an ice-cream from the Pacific Islands Trading Store, or perhaps get right into snorkelling among the fringing coral that surrounds this tropical island paradise. You can also choose from five scenic walking treks around the island, and for beachcombers and lovers of the sun, deserted coves and pristine beaches await.

Snacks can be purchased on the island, and for those who’ve built up a real appetite, Foxy’s Bar and Café can tempt you with a deli-style lunch. The afternoon is yours to choose to do as much or as little as you'd like.

Trek Fitzroy Island

Fitzroy Island is 99 per cent national park covered in lush tropical rainforest and is famed for its range of exhilarating, scenic treks. Some lead to deserted beaches and others to compelling lookouts over the island. There are short walks to the mythical Secret Garden, which is a mere 45-minute round trip. Another option for the keen flora and fauna explorer is a long walk to the historic lighthouse and magnificent summit.

Keep an eye out for birds of paradise, red flying fox, glimmering blue Ulysses butterflies and giant monitors lazing on the boulders.

Snorkelling on Fitzroy Island (optional extra activity)

Head to the Raging Thunder Beach Hut to hire your snorkelling equipment for the day then snorkel straight off the beach to explore the stunning fringing reef which forms part of the Great Barrier Reef.

The ocean floor is a canvas of vivid sea-stars, molluscs, and urchins. The coral gardens are alive with drifting anemone, regal staghorn, and flower-shaped hedges. Spot beautifully coloured damsel and parrot fish as well as epic groper fish.
