With so many activities on offer at the platform, you'll be spoilt for choice:

  • Join a guided snorkelling safari
  • Explore the reef on a glass bottom boat tour
  • Try your first scuba dive
  • Soar above the reef in a scenic helicopter flight.

After a tropical buffet lunch, you might choose some more underwater exploration, or if you prefer to relax, laze on deck and even treat yourself to a massage onboard the floating platform.

Day 1: Kuranda Train, Skyrail, Kuranda Village, Rainforestation

Your one day tour to Kuranda Village begins with your tour vehicle picking up at approximately 7.30am for Cairns and 8.30am for Northern Beaches (you will be given more precise timings when you book).

Kuranda Scenic Railway

Recently voted one of the best train journeys in the world, the Kuranda Train and Scenic Railway winds its way from Cairns to Kuranda, the “village in the rainforest”.

Enjoy breathtaking, diverse scenery as you travel on the historic train through ancient World Heritage rainforest, over rocky ravines, and past stunning waterfalls including Stoney Creek Falls and Barron Gorge National Park.

Your Kuranda Train Scenic Railway journey includes commentary (in English) on the scenery as you are passing and on the history of this amazing railway.

Discover Kuranda – the "Village in the Rainforest"

A popular tourist destination for over a hundred years, Kuranda, also known as "the Village in the Rainforest" is home to the spectacular Barron Falls and a vibrant arts and crafts scene and market culture.

Here you can browse around the market and find unique souvenirs and gifts, from handcrafted didgeridoos to one-of-a-kind local clothing designs, fossils, gemstones and intricate crystals as well as gourmet homemade pies, sweets and other treats.

You will have a bit of time to wander around before meeting up to be taken to the Kuranda Rainforestation Nature Park.

Australian Butterfly Sanctuary

With over 1,500 butterflies, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary will impress you with the lively beauty and colour.

Catch sight of the electric-blue Ulysses or wander to the moth exhibit for a look at the massive Hercules, with a whopping wingspan of up to 36cm.

Guided tours run throughout the day taking you through not only the aviary but also the adjoining museum and breeding laboratory.

Kuranda Rainforestation Nature Park

The Kuranda Rainforestation Nature Park is set on 100 acres of World Heritage Rainforest and offers amazing experiences for your day.

Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience

In a spellbinding amphitheatre, with the rainforest serving as its walls, the Pamagirri people express their rich history of hunting, gathering and relationships with wildlife.

Try your hand at throwing a boomerang and, if you're lucky, you may get the opportunity to recreate the sounds of wildlife on a didgeridoo.

Army Duck Rainforest Tour

Your remarkable vehicle on this tour is a genuine WW II Army Duck amphibious 6 wheel drive.

This allows you to roam over ravines and through running streams, as you adventure into a 100 million-year-old rainforest.

Your ‘Duck Captain’ will share some fascinating facts about the flora and fauna of this World Heritage landscape, and will point out a few turtles in the shallows. Commentary sheets are available in 17 languages.

Koala & Wildlife Park

The Kuranda Koala and Wildlife Park is all about enriching your experience by interacting with wildlife.

Stroll around the rainforest-fringed sanctuary at your own leisure or join a guided tour for a formal introduction.

The staff here are as friendly as the animals, and you’ll soon become acquainted with Kitta the 2m cassowary, and Neville, the only Tasmanian devil in Far North Queensland.

You’ll have the opportunity to handfeed a kangaroo and even have your photo taken cuddling up beside a koala.

The park is a wonderland of lush gardens and elevated walkways that allow you to view animals up close, including ‘Jack the Ripper’, a 5m Saltwater crocodile.

Lunch is included and will be available to you as a BBQ buffet lunch.

Kuranda Skyrail

The Kuranda Skyrail cableway spans 7.5kms over the pristine rainforest.

You’ll glide above the rainforest canopy, over the Barron River, and past tumbling waterfalls.

Along the way, you’ll have an opportunity to alight at two stations to explore the World Heritage-listed rainforest on foot.

The first stop is at Barron Falls Station where you can visit the CSIRO Rainforest Interpretation Centre. Red Peak Station is the second stop.

Here we recommend you join a complimentary ranger-guided tour. Allow approximately 20 minutes for each stop.

The coach will meet you at the Skyrail Terminal to transfer you to your accommodation in Cairns or Northern Beaches.
