Guests meet the pilots at the hanger for pre-flight safety briefing and then off we go flying over the famous sights of Cooktown, Endeavour Reef and out to Lizard Island where guests will spend the day hiking around the sights on the island, snorkelling the Blue Lagoon and the famous Clam Gardens.
Upon arrival at Lizard Island you will then have 6 hours to explore, relax and soak in the beauty of this remote and secluded tropical paradise.
All guests will have the option to take part in a Guided Island Tour led by a local guide.
On the tour you will learn of the island’s unique eco system and history. The island boasts a rich Aboriginal and European history and gained its name from Captain James Cook after discovering many large sand monitors during their first encounter of the island.
With free use of snorkel equipment, flotation devices and sun suits, you will have the opportunity to discover the many world class reefs and coral systems fringing Lizard Island.
The reef begins just 30 metres from the beach and is home to an abundance of marine life including giant clams, sea turtles, clown fish, rays and hundreds of species of tropical fish.
If snorkeling is on your to do a list, a visit to the world famous “Clam Garden” is a must as is the "Blue Lagoon".

You may even be lucky enough to spot marine life frolicking in the surrounding reefs especially during the months of July to August when the Humpback Whale are calving in the safe surroundings of the Great Barrier Reef.

Weather conditions change quickly in Tropical North Queensland. In the event of poor weather Daintree Air use only multi-engine air-conditioned aircraft for the Lizard Island Day Tour. These aircraft are capable of flying through and/or above bad weather enroute. Once on Lizard Island we provide flotation devices for those not so comfortable snorkelling. We also provide stinger suits. The above safety gear and suits are provided free of charge.
Hat, towel, sun protection, bottle of water, swim wear, walking shoes and a dry change of clothes.
All cancellations must be in writing.
