As you take off from Cairns, have your camera ready as you will be greeted with spectacular views of Cairns city and the northern beaches.

Your low level scenic flight will continue north towards Lizard Island as you soar above World Heritage listed rainforests and the mighty Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

From your window seat you will welcome fantastic views of Port Douglas, the heritage listed wetlands of Cape York Peninsula and above the world’s oldest living rainforest, the Daintree Rainforest.

We have built new hangers at the Cooktown airport and now offer our popular scenic flight day tours from Cooktown to Lizard Island.

Guests meet the pilots at the hanger for pre-flight safety briefing and then off we go flying over the famous sights of Cooktown, Endeavour Reef and out to Lizard Island where guests will spend the day hiking around the sights on the island, snorkelling the Blue Lagoon and the famous Clam Gardens.

Explore Lizard Island

Upon arrival at Lizard Island you will then have 6 hours to explore, relax and soak in the beauty of this remote and secluded tropical paradise.

All guests will have the option to take part in a Guided Island Tour led by a local guide.

On the tour you will learn of the island’s unique eco system and history. The island boasts a rich Aboriginal and European history and gained its name from Captain James Cook after discovering many large sand monitors during their first encounter of the island.

With free use of snorkel equipment, flotation devices and sun suits, you will have the opportunity to discover the many world class reefs and coral systems fringing Lizard Island.

The reef begins just 30 metres from the beach and is home to an abundance of marine life including giant clams, sea turtles, clown fish, rays and hundreds of species of tropical fish.

If snorkeling is on your to do a list, a visit to the world famous “Clam Garden” is a must as is the "Blue Lagoon".

The island also boasts an abundance of bush walking trails. Take a walk to the world famous “Blue Lagoon,” snap a selfie from Cook’s Look and venture to the historic site of Chinaman’s Ridge.

Return Scenic Flight to Cairns or Cooktown

After enjoying a relaxing and memorable 6 hours at Lizard Island, you will then board your fixed wing scenic flight to make the breathtaking low level flight back to Cairns.

Taking off, admire the coral cays, swirling reef formations and sand islands of the Lizard Island Group.

You may even be lucky enough to spot marine life frolicking in the surrounding reefs especially during the months of July to August when the Humpback Whale are calving in the safe surroundings of the Great Barrier Reef.

Heading south, your flight will make its voyage over the mighty Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.

As you soar above the outer reef, you will spot the many tropical islands and sand cays nestled upon the marine park such as Endeavour Reef, Cairns Reef, Agincourt Reef, Batt Reef, Green Island and Upolu Cay.

Weather conditions change quickly in Tropical North Queensland. In the event of poor weather Daintree Air use only multi-engine air-conditioned aircraft for the Lizard Island Day Tour. These aircraft are capable of flying through and/or above bad weather enroute. Once on Lizard Island we provide flotation devices for those not so comfortable snorkelling. We also provide stinger suits. The above safety gear and suits are provided free of charge.

Hat, towel, sun protection, bottle of water, swim wear, walking shoes and a dry change of clothes.

• Children aged 3 years old and up, must be accommodated on a seat with a standard seat belt.
• Infants aged up to 3 years old travel free of charge. Infant must sit on parents lap and be secured by a suitably approved harness, which is provided by the operator
