Our private charter boat is based on Magnetic Island from April to October as we bask in the northern Australia winter sunshine away from our other home port of Sydney.
Our luxury charter yacht was custom-built for luxury sailing on the waters of the Great Barrier Reef.
At a very generous 58 foot (17 metres) this yacht is licensed to charter with 24 passengers in comfort.
Should it be a day of lazing onboard we recommended travelling with 14 guests to ensure lots of lounging space is available on the upper decks to catch the suns rays.
Booking your very own private charter boat is a great way to celebrate a family gathering or a celebration on the amazing Great Barrier Reef.
You choose whether you wish to have a four, five or six hour reef trip during the day and dictate the time you would like to set sail from the safe harbour on Magnetic Island.
You may also wish to book the sail boat for a late afternoon twilight sunset two hour private charter cruise just for two for that very special occassion.
Your sail boats departure time is flexible, though 11.30am is recommended, and you will leave from Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island and take off for your cruise.
Day charters must finish by 3.30pm (exceptions may be possible on request)
Your private charter boat will take you to explore some of Magnetic Island’s stunning 23 secluded bays with golden sands and lapping azure waters.
An amazing two thirds of the island has been classified as a National Park so you can enjoy the usually inaccessible untouched beauty of Magnetic Island from the water.
Magnetic Island National Park is inhabited by a variety of wildlife rock wallabies, koalas and possums and is also a great resting place for resident and migratory birds.
On your private charter yacht you can choose what you want to do. Whether to lay back and relax on the bean bags or to explore the Jack Sparrow in you and hoist the sails and steer at the helm – it’s your day to do what you like.
Lunch Meals on Your Private Yacht
At lunch time we will pull into one of the many secluded, pristine bays where guests can swim, snorkel, float on an inflatable or use the paddleboard whilst lunch is being prepared.
Please note you may choose to have your private charter boat meals fully catered or BYO catering is fine with our crew, please just advise at the time of booking your private charter boat tour.
If you wish to just relax you can be taken to the beach, where your footprints will be the only ones!
If you wish to enjoy seeing marine life, then you can snorkel and even hand feed the curious batfish. You might even receive a visit from Charlie the Cod who likes to come and say hello.
You might even be lucky to see a cruising humpback whales as they migrate to the warmer waters of the Coral Sea to warm up, mate and give birth before returning to the colder climes.
If you look up you will see the familiar birds on the wing as Kites, Ospreys and Sea Eagles circle overhead looking for their next tasty fish dish.

Magnetic Island, or as the locals call it ‘Maggie’ is located only half an hour ferry ride and 8km from Townsville.
When it comes to stunning islands, this ruggedly beautiful gem located on the Great Barrier Reef in Far North Queensland is certainly worth a visit.
With rocky granite headlands, bordered by towering hoop pines that stand like sentinels over the pristine sandy bays, the mountains on Magnetic Island are covered with eucalypt koala-harbouring woodlands, all surrounded by fringing reefs, sea grass beds and mangrove communities.
Over half of Magnetic island (2,790ha) is protected and known as the Magnetic Island National Park.
The golden sandy beaches are important turtle nesting areas and the mangrove shelters fish nurseries.
The sea grass beds attract feeding turtles and dugongs, which are all great to see when you are snorkeling or swimming around the coral reef gardens.
The Wulgurukab Aboriginal people inhabited Magnetic Island for thousands of years, and called the island ‘Yunbenun’.
In 1770 James Cook landed unexpectedly on Magnetic Island due to compass failure.
It was from that point forward that the island was aptly re-named (perhaps non-Magnetic Island might have been more fitting!).

On your private charter boat sailing cruise you will be taken to explore some of the 23 stunning, mostly pristine, bays that Magnetic Island boasts.
You and your party will leave from Magnetic Island Marina, Nelly Bay to start your Great Barrier Reef snorkel tour.
Magnetic Island National Park is filled with a good variety of animals from koalas to rock wallabies, possums and more smaller native Australian animals.
If you look up to the bright blue sky you will see circling kites, ospreys and sea eagles.
A standard private boat charter is for four hours, which will give you enough time to enjoy some peaceful sailing, enjoy a nice catered lunch, and time for swimming and a snorkel.
Since you have exclusive use of the luxury yacht it is recommended that for a private charter, a five or six hour sail would be best to allow you to completely circumnavigate around the island and allow for a bit more relaxing sailing time.
With the extra hours it will allow for a bit more freedom to visit more remote bays and enjoy the complete privacy of your own paradise and beaches.
If you prefer a shorter time, then you can opt for an afternoon two hour sunset cruise.
This will have you sailing under the setting glows of a tropical sun and the accompanying stunning hues and kaleidescope of colours in the sky that stretch over Magnetic Island and the waters of the Great Barrier Reef.
It is totally your call what time you wish to commence your private charter, but it is recommended that you start your sailing tour around 10.30am, which will give you enough time for gentle sailing, exploring, swimming and snorkelling plus time to relax and dine on a delicious lunch.
Private day charters have a finishing time of 4.00pm, so it’s your call how you want to structure your day.
Our private charter boat is surveyed to carry 24 passengers however we recommend a maximum of 14 guests for lot's of lounging space on the upper decks.
