Personalised Aboriginal Cultural Experiences

For that special experience of Australia, we can tailor-make you an Aboriginal cultural tour and adventure for a special occasion, or create one, for your group of family and/or friends.

With a choice of half-day, full day, two-day and six-day trips to various destinations, and learning a variety of skills, including Indigenous kayaking, hunting and collecting as well as traditional arts, from local Aboriginal guides and their connection to country, you’ll be spoilt for choice when you organise a private charter tour.

Examples of these cultural tours are outlined below.

Half-Day Coastal Survival tour with Aboriginal guides

Following the fabulous scenic coastal drive up to beautiful Cooya Beach (Kuyu Kuyu), you’ll come to traditional fishing grounds where experienced local Aboriginal guides teach you how to spear and collect an amazing variety of bush foods as well as nature’s medicines among the mudflats and tidal lagoons.

Learn how to survive using age-old traditions and experiences of the land.

Aboriginal Art Workshop

Through hands-on painting and storytelling, you’ll learn contemporary Aboriginal art styles from a local artist, inspired by his homeland of the World Heritage-listed Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.

The workshop takes place in the Janbal Aboriginal Art Gallery, a special place located within the rainforest.

Your painting will end up being an Aboriginal-art style souvenir of this memorable experience. Afterwards, enjoy afternoon tea while viewing the gallery’s wonderful collection of genuine local art and artefacts before taking the scenic drive back to your accommodation.

Rainforest, Reef, Beach & Wildlife: Wundu Way

Views from picturesque drives and scenic lookouts accompany your cultural journey to the Daintree National Park and Mossman Gorge.

Walk through the spectacular gorge and lush heritage-listed rainforest and maybe swim in the refreshing clear waters of the Mossman River.

Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest and reef meet, is where you’ll spend the night under the canopy of the World Heritage-listed rainforest.

Metres from one of the top beaches in the world, relax in the Beach House’s comfortable cabins.

You might just spot some unique Aussie wildlife, such as a Boyd's Forest Dragon or a cassowary.

You’ll also enjoy an art workshop, and learn to hunt and collect bush food in the half-day survival tour.

Six-day 4WD Olkola Country

This cultural journey sees a dramatic change of scenery from tropical rainforest to the woodland savannah, billabongs and rocky outcrops of Cape York and the rugged Bloomfield Track.

From the sandstone escarpments to the floodplains of the major rivers there are rock art paintings, scar trees and sacred sites in over one million hectares of the Olkola country’s ancient land.

Aboriginal guides will give you an understanding of traditional survival practices including bush food and medicine. Explore the habitat of beautiful rare golden-shouldered parrots.

Termite mounds are an integral part of the landscape and are also their nesting sites.

Learn about the connection Captain Cook had with the Aboriginal people and explore Cooktown’s museum.
