Based in beautiful Port Douglas Queensland Australia and catering to smaller numbers of only 12 privileged guests, this 13-metre French designed private charter boat is perfect for that family celebration or small company get together.
This beautiful private charter boat is compact but designed with good interior and exterior space to laze about and enjoy the coastal and ocean scenery as you sail along. You'll journey to Low Isles and Snapper Island on the Great Barrier Reef on your day charter.
At both Low Isles and Snapper island, you can snorkel around in comfort knowing the boat is only a little distance away and land is close at hand. All snorkelling and flotation equipment is provided as are the sun suits and wetsuits which are laundered daily.
On our full day private charter snorkel tour we sail out to the Low Isles and upon arrival the hostess and crew will serve morning tea whilst you sit back and admire the view that surrounds.
We then head off in the tender over to the island to enjoy a guided island walk where you learn all about the history of the island and its prominent lighthouse.
Then its time to jump in the water and begin to explore all the corals and marine life in the lagoon.
It's here where you will come across quite a number of turtles that call these lagoons home.
Low Isles is a small coral cay made up of two islands, one called Woody Island which is full of Mangroves and seagrass beds and the other a coral island known as Low Isles just an hours sail from Port Douglas.
Together they provide shelter for mooring and the perfect habitat for sea turtles. You will the turtles either sleeping on the ocean floor or on coral bommies or swimming right up beside you as though you do not even exist.
Low Isles has an old lighthouse and a mini-museum that you can explore as you take a wander around this lovely little tropical island. There is a lot of maritime history, Aboriginal cultural history and the ongoing weather and marine research that is carried out here still today by marine scientists from the world over is shared with other researchers worldwide.
Between 1926 – 1929 Low Isles was the site of the first detailed scientific study of a coral reef anywhere in the world and still today this baseline data is used in modern research to study the change in reef systems growth and decline.
