As your flight begins its journey back to Cairns, you may even be able to spot Fitzroy Island in the distance. Watch as the deep blue waters of the reef transcend into an aqua blue.
As you arrive back to the mainland of Australia, marvel at the bordering mountain ranges and lush tropical rainforests surrounding the Cairns city region.

Soon you will find yourself flying above Batt Reef. With shallow lagoons this is the perfect opportunity to spot for marine life. Keep your eyes open for reef sharks, large tropical fish, rays and turtles.
Heading north you will soon arrive at the northern tip of Tongue Reef, home to abundance of swirling coral formations, large coral bommies and descending coral walls.
If travelling between July and September your Pilot may even spot a Humpback Whale or Dwarf Minke Whale cruising in the ocean.
Your helicopter flight will then continue west over the Great Barrier Reef towards the third reef on your tour. Low Isles Reef is home to Low Island and Woody Island. Low Island is a popular snorkeling destination due its clear waters and fringing coral gardens. Woody Island boasts a rich mangrove system that plays host to many sea birds, turtles and dugongs that can sometimes be spotted from the aircraft.
As you make your journey back to the mainland, your helicopter pilot will guide you along the northern tip of Port Douglas and above the southern end of the world’s oldest rainforest, the Daintree Rainforest.
Here you will be blown away by views of Cooya Beach, the towering rainforest canopies of the Daintree Rainforest trees, swirling inland estuaries and the surrounding mountain ranges.

Lifting up over the skyline of Port Douglas you’ll be able to view the many luxury resorts, the Reef Marina on the western side and pristine Four Mile Beach that lines the eastern side.
Your pilot will veer around to head over Flagstaff Hill and inland over the patchwork coastal cane farms up into the dense World Heritage Listed Rainforest that cloaks the surrounding mountain ranges. Keep your eyes peeled for tourists snapping photos from the popular look out spot, Rex Creek Suspension Bridge.
Returning south, you will soon cross over the steep Bump Track that was originally an aboriginal trail linking the mountain and coastal regions.
As you approach the town of Port Douglas, spot the many luxury resorts, surrounding beaches and green vegetation, estuarine river banks, Port Douglas Marina and other notable landmarks below. Don’t forget to snap a few photos of the blue waters and colourful corals of nearby Alexander Reef.
