Nestled at the top of the Pioneer Valley hinterlands is Broken River, located within the Eungella National Park. From here you can enjoy a personalised and educational tour which explains how to find a platypus as well as interesting explanations of other animals that can be found in the rainforest including fish, turtles, eel-tailed catfish, eels and shrimp. Enjoy chicken, side dish and nibbles in a beautiful rainforest setting. Adults are served chilled champagne while children can enjoy fruit juice or water.
Platypus are shy creatures that don’t abide by any particular pattern, so when they are seen, it’s a very special moment. You’ll need patience and the ability to remain silent and still.
There’s no rushing on this tour. Spend time exploring the rainforest and Eungella National Park, take photos and ask questions.
The tour has the option of jumping in the fresh water of Finch Hatton Gorge where you can cool down and refresh. It is completely safe for swimming.
When the tour is over, you can decide to stay in the area for the night (accommodation is available) or head back out to continue your travels.
