Itinerary

Your rainforest day tour begins

Begin your day trip visiting one of two huge Strangler fig trees in the Tableland's rainforest. One is more than 500 years old and a spectacular giant of the rainforest.

From there, it’s on to the crater lakes. These craters were formed thousands of years ago when hot molten rock from now dormant volcanoes came into contact with groundwater. The build-up of steam and gas blasted the central cores from the volcanoes, and over time the spectacular craters have filled with fresh rainwater, to form a now serene and peaceful paradise.

Enjoy a delicious Devonshire Tea served in the teahouse overlooking the lake.

We had a great informative tour, we went to a few places we probably wouldn't have seen if we'd hired a car. The morning tea was great lovely spot, water falls were great, Bruce enjoyed the water slide. We even saw a snake, went swimming lovely and refreshing. The lunch stop was great to made their own bread even. Darrin enjoyed our day. Thankyou Trish and Bruce Hansen NZ

We had a great day. A personal tour with lots of interesting things to see. We saw pademelons, tree kangaroos and a variety of birdlife. It was really interesting to see the countryside as it is so different to the coastal landscape. We had a great day and Darrin made sure we saw as much as possible in the time available

Response From Barrier Reef Australia

Thanks for your review Jennifer - you were incredibly lucky to see the shy tree kangaroos! The Tour Specialists are pleased your rainforest experience was enjoyable and we look forward to being a part of your next Cairns and Tablelands holiday.
