We conduct transfers to and from our private hangar near Townsville Airport & Nelly Bay on Magnetic Island (the helipad near Base Backpackers).

For your safety and comfort the helicopter will be powered down upon landing to assist you with exiting the aircraft and any bags you have with you. The transfer can be combined with a scenic flight of the Island or surrounding areas. 

Take photographs of Castle Hill the pink monolith mountain that dominates Townsville city’s skyline before we swing the helicopter to the right and head out across the Great Barrier Reef to Magnetic Island.

Our helicopter circumnavigation flight of Magnetic Island will be simply spectacular as we point out interesting items like the sunken wreck of the ship City of Adelaide and the sighting of possibly some of the other 19 ships that lay submerged in the water.

We fly over Horseshoe Bay, the magnificent pine forests in amongst the granite boulders and see Mt Cook, waterfalls (in the green season), Nelly Bay, Geoffrey Bay and many more of the 23 bays on the island. 

During the months of July to September keep your eyes peeled for the annual migration of the humpback whales as they find a safe place to calve amongst the coral reefs.

Scenic tour passengers must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or evidence of a medical contraindication to staff at Townsville Helicopters upon entry to the hangar or aircraft.
• 100% cancellation fee applies for no-shows, cancellations within 24 hours for customers who are denied entry on the day due to not meeting the QLD Government mandated vaccination requirements.
• Townsville Helicopters are happy to offer a full refund (minus any credit card fees) for cancellations due to Covid-19 quarantine or isolation requirements (evidence will be required for cancellations within 24 hours). Bookings can also be turned into a gift voucher to use at a later date if guests are only postponing their plans.
