When is the Best Time to Swim With Humpback Whales?
The peak time in Hervey Bay to swim with whales are in the months of late July to early September. After this time the mothers and calves begin to arrive so legislation prohibits whale swims with mothers and calves.

Purpose Built Whale Watching Boat
Built for whale watching your half day cruise offers the best opportunities for capturing the pefect photo while whale watching.
The vessel features a very large upper deck which can be accessed from either stairs from the fore deck between the amphi-theater seating or from the rear deck near the full size wheelchair accessible toilets.
With the emphasis again on passenger safety and comfort the upper deck gives a 360 degrees view with both the upper and lower rear deck offering large curved balconies that have passengers out over the water for a birds eye view of the humpback whales at play in the water.
With the use of ramps running from the main deck to the fore deck allows both able-bodied and disabled passengers freedom to move right round the main decks. The fore deck also offers two large bow spits, that conditions permitting, allow passengers to view dolphins riding the bow waves.
During your half day Hervey Bay whale watching tour the friendly crew will provide complimentary tea, coffee and morning/afternoon tea. Additional drinks and snacks are also available for purchase with a fully licensed kiosk. Passengers can purchase souvenirs, film, sandwiches, hot pies, hot dogs, ice creams, drinks etc.

How Do You Get An Opportunity To Swim With The Humpback Whales?
For the ultimate up close and personal experience with the humpback whales, ensure to bring your swimmers, towel and your own snorkel gear! Please note swimming with the whales are subject to conditions on the day and cannot be guaranteed. An additional $80-100 is payable onboard and will be refunded if your whale swim is unsuccesful. Swimming with whales cannot be booked online. The best months for swimming with the whales are late July to early September.
We are the only company which owns a spotter aircraft. While years ago it was essential that the eye in the sky was out there, these days the air craft is used more as a security measure being used daily at the start and end of the season and on days when spotting from the vessels may be a little harder than normal.
Seats are available for purchase to experience the feeling that Brian had when he flew the first day that the whale watching industry was born in Hervey Bay.
Your day of whale watching starts with our departure from Hervey Bay at 7.45am with our friendly crew members. Please ensure you check in at least 15 minutes prior to your departure time at the floating office at the Great Sandy Straits Marina. Look for the red harpoon gun on the bpardwalk and you have found us.
Departing at 7.45am you can enjoy complimentary tea and coffee which is individually served on request whilst the boat is stationary.
We will travel to Kingfisher Bay Resort where we will collect some guests. This detour takes you deeper into the Great Sandy Strait Marine Park where we pass islands such as Big Woody Island, Duck and Picnic Island and Little Woody Island. See lighthouses and learn about the past history of the immigration to the port of Maryborough and keep your eyes peeled for the local dugongs, dolphins and turtles.
This is where we begin our hunt for the majestic humpback whales. During your half day whale watching tour the experienced crew with share their wealth of knowlege with informative commentary on whales, and the history of Hervey Bay whale industry. Their eyes are trained to see the first signs of the whales and will alert everyone as soon as they see one.
Feel free to ask questions of the crew thoughout the cruise as you gain further appreciation of these amazing creatures.
Ensure to have your camera ready for the perfect shot as you view the humpback whales breach, or perhaps capture the perfect shot of a pec or tail slap!

Can I swim with The Whales?
Get up close and personal with the amazing humpback whales as they play in the warm waters of Hervey Bay with an optional swim with whales experience! Should the conditions be right during the cruise, you may be able to swim with the whales - ensure to bring your swimmers, towel and your own snorkel gear for a once in a life time experience os swimming with giant humpback whales.
An additional fee is payable onboard. Please note swimming with the whales can not be guaranteed as they are wild and free and also we have to take into consideration the water conditions.
On your return to Hervey Bay enjoy a refreshment from the licensed kiosk as you soak up the views and reflect on your experience of a lifetime!
