Rusty's Markets

Since its humble beginnings in 1975, this Cairns icon has grown into an impressive array of more than 180 stalls full of fresh, local produce.

You’ll find everything you need at Rusty's Markets, from fruits and vegetables to coffee and cheeses from the Atherton Tablelands, bread, flowers, chocolate, bric-a-brac, and clothing.

Have your tarot cards read before feasting on one of the best samosas you’ll ever taste, washed down with a Vietnamese coffee.

This isn’t just a place to buy your groceries for the week, it’s a cultural melting pot of Cairns, and – some would say – the heart of the city.

From Friday at 5.00am to Sunday afternoon, this spot is a bustling marketplace, humming with the sounds of bartering from both locals and tourists.
