Cairns & Port Douglas
Enjoy proximity to the outer reef, Low Isles, and remote sand cays. An ideal destination for snorkelling, fishing, and scenic cruising.
The Kimberley
AURA also caters to expedition-style charters in Australia’s remote northwest. Navigate the tidal rivers, towering cliffs, and dramatic waterfalls of the Kimberley in absolute comfort and safety.
Day #1 - Hamilton Island to Dent Island
Begin your journey at Hamilton Island Marina, where your crew will greet you with a warm welcome and escort you via traditional island buggy or luxury air-conditioned vehicle. As the largest inhabited island in the Whitsundays, Hamilton Island covers just over 5 square kilometres, offering a blend of natural beauty and refined amenities.
Before setting sail, unwind with a relaxed lunch or sunset dinner at the Hamilton Island Yacht Club, renowned for its architectural elegance and sweeping Coral Sea views. Take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront paths or explore the boutiques and galleries nearby, an ideal way to ease into your luxury yacht charter experience.
The option is also there for you to cruise around to Perseverance Reef or Dent Island (home of one of Australia's most prestigious golf courses): a first swim and snorkel in the heavenly blue ocean, followed by sunset canapes in a sheltered bay.
Day #2 - Dent Island to Neck Bay
Tucked within the Lindeman Island Group, Neck Bay is often a Captain’s top choice for the first overnight anchorage. Sheltered and secluded, this pristine location sits between Shaw Island and Lindeman Island, offering guests an unforgettable introduction to the untouched beauty of the Whitsundays.
Upon arrival, enjoy a swim in the warm, clear waters followed by a snorkelling session along the bay’s rocky coastline—renowned for its underwater visibility and rich marine biodiversity.
After drying off, guests can cross the narrow stretch of land known as “the neck,” from the western bay to the eastern beach, discovering a peaceful shoreline strewn with rare, naturally polished shells and coral fragments. This quiet coastal walk is ideal for beachcombing, photography, or simply enjoying the remoteness of this protected anchorage.
As the day draws to a close, settle into a relaxed beach barbecue, complete with fresh local seafood, and rejuvenate with a natural exfoliating sand massage on the shoreline. The evening is spent at anchor, cradled in the calm waters of Neck Bay—your first night beneath the stars in Australia’s most iconic cruising region.
Day #3 - Neck Bay to Cid Island
Waking up to admire a tropical sunrise, we will make our way West towards Long Island.
An exclusive passage, cruising the Long Island Sound will immerse you in lush bushland descending into the ocean and creating the perfect colour palette.
Continue onto Cid Island, where kayaking through the mangrove is a popular activity in the afternoon. Katoomba Bank, on the North of the island sets scene for some jaw-dropping sunsets, before we anchor in front of Hill Rock Reef or Cid Harbour for a quiet evening and overnight.
Day #4 - Cid Island to Hook Islsand
Begin your morning with a rewarding hike to Whitsunday Peak, one of the most panoramic vantage points in the entire island group. The 1.5-hour return walk offers an invigorating fitness challenge, culminating in uninterrupted 360-degree views over Cid Harbour and the surrounding reef systems. The ascent is well worth the effort, especially at sunrise or early morning when the light paints the coastline in golden hues.
After returning to your yacht, enjoy a relaxed breakfast before diving into an action-packed afternoon of watersports. Along the west coast of Whitsunday Island, guests can take advantage of designated zones where jetskis and motorised watercraft are permitted—perfect for thrill-seekers looking to make the most of the region’s calm, open waters.
As the sun begins to dip, your captain sets course for Hook Island, a destination steeped in natural beauty and cultural heritage. Accessible via a narrow, deep-water channel that separates it from Whitsunday Island, Hook Island offers sheltered overnight anchorage in its quiet bays.
Day #5 - Hook Island to Hayman Island
Today’s journey delivers a spectacular blend of reef exploration, beachside relaxation, and aerial adventure in some of the Whitsundays’ most photogenic locations. Departing from Hook Island, we set a course for either Langford Island or Blue Pearl Bay—two exceptional destinations offering distinctly unique experiences on the fringe of Hayman Island.
At Langford Island, a sandbank gradually emerges at low tide, creating the perfect setting for a private beach barbecue and a stroll along the shoreline. This picturesque stretch of sand is also a preferred landing point for scenic helicopter flights over the Great Barrier Reef, giving guests the opportunity to view iconic reef formations from above.
Alternatively, guests may opt for a morning at Blue Pearl Bay, celebrated for its excellent snorkelling and swimming in a thriving coral environment. This protected bay offers calm, clear waters where snorkellers can drift over vibrant coral gardens teeming with marine life.
After lunch, the yacht returns northward to Hook Island to explore Butterfly Bay. Known for its protected anchorage and rich marine biodiversity, Butterfly Bay’s shallow reef walls and coral rubble seabed provide a haven for reef fish, angelfish, butterflyfish, and countless other tropical species.
Day #6 - Hayman Island to Hardy Reef
Begin your day surrounded by some of the most remarkable views in the world—anchored on the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, where breakfast is served against a panorama of turquoise lagoons and coral atolls.
Today is all about immersing yourself in the marine wonders of the outer reef. Certified divers can descend along nearby drop-offs, where Trevally, Snapper, Coral Trout, and Maori Wrasse patrol the reef ledges. Keep an eye out for the legendary Giant Queensland Groper, known to frequent these waters and often reaching up to two metres in length. Whether diving or snorkelling, this region offers exceptional visibility and close encounters with reef sharks, turtles, barracuda, and hundreds of species of vibrant reef fish.
For guests who prefer to explore from above, take to the skies on a helicopter or seaplane tour. These flights provide breathtaking views of the world-famous Heart Reef, a naturally formed coral composition in the shape of a heart that has become one of Australia’s most iconic aerial sights.
Later in the afternoon, explore the rare phenomenon of vertical waterfalls, where the ocean appears to fall over reef ledges as the tide drops by 2–3 metres. Our tenders will guide you through this hidden gem, only visible at the right tidal conditions.
As night falls, the yacht becomes your private sanctuary on the reef. Enjoy a crew-curated themed dinner under the stars—an ideal time to unwind and relive the day's adventures. If you're lucky, the fresh catch from a morning trawl may make its way onto your plate, perfectly prepared by the onboard chef. A slideshow of the day’s best moments may follow, creating memories as vivid as the reef itself.
Day #7 - Hardy Reef to Whitehaven Beach
As the final leg of your Whitsundays journey begins, your yacht sets a gentle course back toward civilisation—though the wonders are far from over.
Your first stop is Dumbell Island, a small and rarely visited islet known for its thriving birdlife. From the aft deck, observe white-bellied sea eagles, terns, and other coastal species in flight. With luck, you may even hand-feed a passing sea eagle—an unforgettable close encounter with one of Australia’s most striking birds of prey.
Continuing just 6 nautical miles south, the approach to Whitehaven Beach begins to unfold. Before reaching its famed shoreline, take a guided hike up to the Hill Inlet Lookout, where the view is nothing short of extraordinary. From this elevated point, the shifting white silica sands and aqua-toned waters form surreal swirling patterns—an iconic scene known worldwide for its natural beauty.
After the hike, your yacht will anchor just off Whitehaven’s shore. Tenders will deliver you to the beach, where you can sink your feet into the powder-fine sand—renowned not only for its dazzling brightness but also for its unusually high silica content, said to naturally polish jewellery.
This final day captures the essence of the Whitsundays—tranquil, otherworldly, and unforgettable.
Day #8 - Whitehaven Beach to Hamilton Island
After a tranquil morning anchored off the stunning shores of Whitehaven Beach, your yacht begins its final cruise—rounding the headland and returning to Hamilton Island.
As the Whitsundays slowly fade behind you, take time to relax on deck, reflect on your journey, and savour the last sea breezes of your adventure. Upon arrival at Hamilton Island Marina, your crew will prepare for disembarkation.
Before parting ways, enjoy a final meal ashore with your Captain and crew—a perfect opportunity to relive the highlights of your voyage, share a few stories, and toast to the unforgettable memories created throughout your luxury Whitsundays charter.
